TubeScreamer tries to win a virtual Yellow Jersey

In this new series 1st11 will visit a different sport through the lens of video games. We will be learning about the sport, developing an appreciation and seeing if we can become a zero to hero. Mastering as much as about the sport as possible and overcoming a challenge in the space of a week. 

To celebrate the launch of Tour De France 2020, 1st11 has decided to don the lycra and shed a few pounds and fully embrace professional road cycling. I have to confess, I jumped at the opportunity to play this game as I am a big cycling fan and from my point of view the Tour De France is physically one of the hardest events you can win. Sir Bradley Wiggen’s famously quoted that the Le Tour is one of the only events that you can grow a beard within it. Not only do you need superhuman fitness, you also need to be a master tactician, understand the science of physics and nutrition. Even then this is not enough, you need to be a legit racer, fearless in the descents and skilled on the tarmac!

Cycling is one of my favourite sports, so the fact there is now a video game offering fans a chance to get closer to the experience has made me want to see if I can win a virtual yellow jersey because let’s face it i don’t think Team INEOS will be needing my services any time soon!
