FIFA 22 is here and it surpasses our expectations!
It's hard to believe the very first FIFA videe game released by EA was back in 1993 on the Sega Mega Drive. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and now is a juggernaught of interactive entertainment with millions spent each year on official licences, game development, makreting and more. So when the team at EA sit down to release anew game every year they need to make sure it moves the ball forward to keep us coming back for more. No easy feat considering a year is not really that long when it comes to video game development.
FIFA 22 is the first version of the game to be built to fully utilise next gen console graphics and haptic feedback. For our initial review of the game we played it on Playstation 5 and it firing up the game for the first time it definatley feels like the FIFA experience has evovled and entered a new exciting phase!
The spotlight is on Kylian Mbappe for the relase of this years FIFA

For some traditional fans of FIFA it will see agrateful return of career mode. This means those of us not hellbent on opening packs and levelling up in FIFA Ultimate Team Mode will be able to kick back and enjoy a great single player experience with some fantastic cut scenes and fun cameos from a wide range of legendary players both past and present.

FIFA 22 has played it's FUT mode at the very heart of this year's iteration of the game. Whilst EA Sports have been under increasing pressure and criticism about the ethics of 'pay to win' mechanics of loot boxes, the game sees welcome improvements. For example now each day you can preview what is inside one of the packs each day before you decide to buy it. Grinding it out without spending money on FUT points can take an eternity and anyone on the esports scene will tell you that it really is not an option to earn a decent squad. However for more of a casual user like me I tend to try and grind out points through gameplay and then supplement with FIFA points to spice up my FUT squad. Either way, broadley speaking FUT mode is similar to previous iterations of the game.
