Konami changes the game with eFootball launch

I have to admit that I am a little biased, as someone who grew up in the late 1990's and early 2000's Pro Evolution Soccer was by far the dominant game for football fans. Even though teams were called Machester Blue and star players where called David Duckham, it did not matter at all. The gameplay was great and it made for a highly enjoyable competitive experience with friends.

Fast forward a few years and EA Sports it is safe to say has totally dominated the football gaming space and subsequent esports formats such as eWorld Cup and ePremier League etc. Whislt we love FIFA here at 1st11, it has to be said the game has become a little frustrating in the way that FIFA Ultimate Team is incredibly expensive to partcipate in, opening of packs on top of an expensive game means a competitive player is likely to spend hundered of not thousands trying to formulate a team that will have an edge when it comes to playing in ranked games.

We also find that the vast majority of FIFA streams on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Gaming are very repetitive with pack openings and creators screaming, shouting and grimmacing at what cards emerge from FUT packs

Konami has been busy over the past year, signing multiple teams and football ambassadors to eFootball/ PES. Also it has to be noted that the much anticipated release of eFootball sees a totally redesigned game built on the Unreal Engine for improved graphics and next gen features.  Most of all Konami has taken notes from popular esports titles such as Call of Duty Warzone and Valorant. eFootball will be free to play, easy to access on any platform from PC, Console and mobile. Finally the most important element is that all competitive play will be fully cross play compatible, meaning a mobile player can play a PC player for example.

We expect eFootball to make some serious waves in the football sim landscape, not just because it has Neymar and Messi and teams like Man Utd, Juventus, Flamengo etc. More importantly because it represents a fundamental rethink about how to best serve gamers with ease of access, innovative new gameplay features and cross play 

Finally the idea that you pay a monthly subscription with constant updates pushed to improve the experience without ever having to stump up £60 each season is something we feel many fans will jump at the chance to try out!
