Solid Snake 'Shadow Moses Island' infiltration challenge

Metal Gear Solid is without doubt one of the top ten games of the 1990's and truly groundbreaking at the time. It spawned a number of sequals, none of which in my view ever matched the sheer brilliance of the first proper instalment. Hideo Kojima clearley looked to iconic movies of the time such as 'The Rock' and the high production style of Michael Bay to ispire dynamic camera angles and a musical score to match the quality of a fully fledged hollywood production. Solid Snake is also a sort of blend of some of the most awesome characters in action gaming history. Take Snake Plisskin from Escape From New York, add a bit of John Rambo and throw in a bit of Jean Claud Van Damme from Universal Soldier and voila! 

Rather than attemp a speed run through the entire game, we are focusing simply on how fast we can infilreate the Shadow Moses Base and locate the DARPA chief. Its not going to be an easy task, as the game was formidable back in the day. To make things more challenging you are under no circumstances allowed to kill anyone or be spotted, you have to be a stealthy and slippery as a solid snake. Once you ascend from the deep and climb up into the cargo loading dock, you will need to quickly run to lift without killing any guard or being spotted. You can stun the enemy, however triggering the alarm means you automatically fail this challenge. Sprinting always works well for me in this section, also hiding by the fork lift truck and using a trusty knock is classic way to quickly slip past and access the lift.

This part is a little trickier, there are two main ways you can access the compound itself. Either heading up the stairs to you can enter the main base on level one or the ground floor. If you not careful it is very easiy to be picked up by a spotlight or security camera. Taking the route on the right means you have to deal with a pesky secury guard. I always find the fastes way is to use the chaff grenages and go up the left hand side and climb through the small vent to get into the tank storage area.

This is one of the trikiest parts of the challenge, there are a range of ways to sneak through. Remember you must not use brutal force. Only chaff grenages, distraction, throws, stuns and stealth! Hit the button to head to the level where the DARPA chief is being held captive in his cell. Sprint past the guars and into the vent and do it as fast as you can. The clock stops when the the cut scene begins with the DARPA cheif, good luck and have fun!
