Things we are hoping for in the next gen version of NBA 2K21

Annoyingly, Playstation and Xbox decided it was a good idea to release their next gen consoles after the release of many of our favourite games. Take NBA 2K21 for example, the game was out months ago. So if you’re a big fan of 2K and you couldn’t wait until late November, then there is a good chance you bought it on the PS4 or Xbox One. The main issue here is, unless you bought the Kobe version, you can’t carry the game onto the next gen consoles. Therefore, you’ll have to buy the game again, whilst the previous gen’s version becomes redundant after only a few months. 

I’m sure most of you are thinking “it’s fine, I’ll play 2K21 on my current console and get 2K22 on the next gen console”. Normally I’d be inclined to say that’s a great idea. However, the next gen version of 2K21 is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME!! With all new features! So if you want to enjoy the full extent of this years game, you’re going to have to bite the bullet and splash the cash. Although, if 2K can make it worthwhile, we might forgive them. It is for that reason that will be discussing the things we hope to see in NBA 2K21 *NEXT GEN*.

We are spending mor cash, so we need more content. I want to see the most life like hairstyles that cater to everyone out there. Imagine buying the game for a second time to three months, only to be greeted with the same personalisation package. Impossible! We need more.

For me, this is more important than the hairstyles. I want to be able to give me player the latest apparel and have him saucing from head to toe. I would to be able to put on some Balenciaga’s or some Louboutin, so that when I’m going up for than dunk, they can see the red bottoms! Okay, maybe I don’t need all of that, but I expect a lot of options. Maybe have separate stores that are brand specific, rather than 1 clothing store and one footlocker. That won’t cut it for me.

It’s no secret that Pro-Am 3v3 is a personal favourite for me. With that being said, the only options are 3v3 and 5v5. I think it would be cool if they could introduce a 2v2 or even a 1v1 Pro-Am option. Reason being, you need friends to play Pro-Am. And if your friends don’t play 2k, your options are limited. But adding 1v1 and 2v2 gives you more flexibility, and makes the mode more inclusive, as I feel everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy this mode. Plus, you earn A LOT more coins, rep & badge points here.

Hear me out… “3 pointers only” court, or maybe an 80 overall max court. I think 2K have missed a trick here in previous games, because what normally happens is the elites take over every court. No one wants to play with random brown shirt, 60 overall players. So if 2K are playing to make the neighbourhood bigger, and add more courts, I hope they get creativity with it, and provide us with themed courts that promote fun and/or inclusivity.

I will scream this from the roof tops until the people at the 2K headquarters hear me. If we are playing Pro-Am 5v5 and we are on a 2-game losing streak with a team full of low rated new players, how is it possible to come up against teams with ridiculous win-loss ratios and crazy high overalls? This doesn’t make any sense to me. You are literally handing the other team the victory before the game starts. 2K really need to get this right because I’m tired of this David vs Goliath battle, I constantly find myself in whilst trying to grind and get my player to a respectable level.

I feel like this could potentially solve a few of the points I brought up previously, and I think it’ll be a simple thing to implement. I say this because it 2K20, there was an event called “Bootcamp” that was only for low overall players. It levelled the playing field and allowed players to grow organically. So, this tells me it is already possible to create lobbies based off of overall rating. I think makes things fair because not everyone can afford to lump a lot of money into the game to accelerate their progress. And career mode gets boring. But the neighbourhood is full of players already in the 90s. So, what do you do? Turn of 2K and play another game. New players struggle, but this would be a great way to counteract that and keep people on the game!

I always look forward to starting my career and seeing what story the new game has installed for us. They do a good job with this. However, once I get drafted its over, and then it’s just the same thing over and over again. Match after match. It gets boring. How about a storyline that lasts the whole first season? Maybe it’s a lot of work, but most of us are buying the game twice this year. Can we get rewarded with a bit of extra content? We deserve it.

This is more personal for me because I have never been able to afford those cool bikes, skateboards and scooters you see people riding around in. Now I’m not saying make them cheaper, I’m just saying have cheaper options. I would settle for some roller skates, or a pair of heeleys (those shoes with wheels on them). I just want to look cool for once because this running this is exhausting.

Last year they had frisbee golf in the back alleys. They also had arcade basketball in one of their events. This shows that they have the capabilities, so keep it! I’m intrigued to see how create 2K get this year.

I heard that this might be happening, so I added it to the list, just in case 2K were having doubts. I miss the days when my friends and I would represent Sunset Beach Ballers and take on plays from the Rivet City and Old Town. Also made things a bit more meaningful. Now don’t get me wrong, this had its faults, but they have had 4 years to get it right, so I’m expecting big things this year.

To summarise, there is a common theme here. All we want is more content. Many people bought the new 2K on PS4 and Xbox One, knowing that they’ll have to buy it again for the new consoles. This is the time of commitment that needs to be rewarded. We are expecting a NEW game, with NEW features that we have never had access to previously. Please don’t let us down!
