Aliens FireTeam Elite is nearly here and we cannot wait to play it!
It's definatley not Game Over when it comes to the Aliens Franchise!
Aliens FireTeam Elite looks to be the best Aliens game since IsolationAlien and its sequal Aliens are in my top ten movies of all time, watching Aliens as a child on VHS terrified me and at the end of it I wanted to be a Colonial Marine. So much so that I ended up buying th Dark Horse 'Aliens' comics, collecting the toys and even visiting the amazing Alien War Immersive Theatre experience back in the 1990's.
We have had all manner of Alien video games ever since. Some have been incredible, others have been dire. As a bit of an Alien super fan I have played and completed many Alien games.
I will share a list of my top five Alien related games at the end of this article, beforehand I want to explain just how excited I am for what is coming in August!
Aliens FireTeam Elite looks insane
4 player co-op amongst battling Xenomorphs till the bitter end!I am very fortunate to have been able to secure a Playstation 5 (a very difficult task) and the game I am most looking forward to playing on it is this game. As an Alien superfan looking at the trailer I can tell that a lot of love, care and attention has gone into making this game look and feel authentic to not only James Cameron's Aliens universe but also Ridely Scott's movies such as the first fim and subsequent Prometheus and Covenent designs.

The game has been developed by Cold Iron studios which say that there will be eleven types of Xenomoph to battle with your friends as well as the classic Facehugger! There will also be four story driven campaigns which you can play by yourself or invite your friends along for the ride and support. We are keen to see if the game takes a similar approach to the excellent Dead By Daylight with the inclusion of DLC and famous characters from the franchise such as Ripley, Hicks, Vasques, Bishop and Apone!
The game comes out in late August on all platforms including previous gen and next gen hardware. This game running at 4k and 60fps on an OLED TV and decent sound looks like it will be literally like being in the 1986 movie!

1st11's top five favorite Alien games
This excludes Alien Fireteam as its not out yet! This game I owned back in the day when Alien 3 came out at it was very enjoyable, a bit like Metriod but with Ripley running around well designed levels equipped with a flamethrower and pulse rifles
This game came out in 1996 and I once stayed up and entire evening trying to complete it taking turns with a mate from school. Amazing atmospherics, decent graphics for the time and the soundtrack is the best in any Alien game! It was a bit like Duke Nukem but with more suspence and a foreboding sense of terror throughout
This game came out on the Nintendo DS in 2011, it has excellent animation and sound. It also makes innovative use of the Nintendo DS's Dual Screens to add suspense and it features 5 bosses and all the guns famous from the film such as Flamethrower, Shotgun, Smatgun etc.
This game was unlike anything I had ever played when it came out a few years back on Playstation 4/ Xbox One. The graphics and lighting effects seemingly pushed the consoles to their limits and to this day the game still holds up amazingly well. It has subsequently been released on Nintendo Switch. The game perfectly compliments the original vision of Ridley Scott and H.R. Geiger's Alien. It would have made the top spot, although the gameplay does become a bit tedious. Especially when dealing with the crazy andriods.
This is by far the most enjoyable game in the Aliens game hall of fame, it came out way back in 1999 at a time when you could play this online with your friends via 56k dial up modem. The single player was incredible, the multipler however made this an instant classic!
So there we have it that shows just how much of my life I have been obsessed with Alien video games. From what I have seen FireTeam looks like it will take the crown as the best game of them all. Be sure to check in with us in August where we will design a challenge here on 1st11 via the Challenge App
